About Michelle

My background

I was born and raised here in Washington, when I am not in my office or in my garden, you'll find me camping or road tripping with my family.  I am a foster and adoptive parent raising three kids. After a break to bond with our little ones, I am happy to be back to work.

After getting my bachelor's degree in psychology from Central Washington University, I moved to California to attend John F Kennedy University. During my studies my focus was on mindfulness, expressive arts therapy and transpersonal therapy. After graduating in 2011 I worked at counseling centers as well as spent three years in high schools doing school based and walk in therapy in San Jose, CA working with teens with various issues.

After spending 8 years in the San Francisco bay area I missed the trees and the people and returned home.

What to expect

You can expect unconditional positive regard. Talking about difficult subjects can be hard and it takes time to grow trust and a relationship. I offer a place where you can go to talk about things that are not often shared. I am someone outside of the situation who will offer a different perspective.

I understand and appreciate what trust and courage it takes to create growth and change within yourself and I respect my clients for that courage. You are the expert in your experience. I will use my education and experience to invite you to deepen your understanding about your past, your future and your present self.

Teen Counseling

Stress and anxiety amongst teens is common when looking forward to a life that there is pressure to map out. Sometimes the anxiety or stress can come from family conflict or an event from the past. No matter the cause, stress and anxiety is treatable with counselling.
